Technical features include 4 mobile jaws, nylon-made main body and adjustable plunger. Some of the advantages of using a Gilda corker are, It does not pinch the cork. It does not reduce the length of the cork when corking. It does not modify the alveolar structure of the cork. Directions for use: insert cork, grip both handles at the ends and squeeze, stand the bottle on the floor, steady Gilda corker on bottle and push down insertion handle in a firm, steady motion.

After extensive testing we recommend Nomacorc brand synthetic corks be used with the Gilda hand corker. They worked the best, inserting cleanly and easily. Our test ratings results were:

• BEST - Nomacorc synthetic corks: (A complete and clean insertion with the least handle squeeze pressure).
• GOOD - Supreme brand synthetics: (Almost a complete insertion. You may have to finish the insert with your thumb. A little more handle squeeze pressure is required compared to the Nomacorcs brand).
• WORST - Natural or agglomerated corks: (Nearly impossible to insert properly. Handle squeeze pressure required is extremely high. If you don't have arthritis in your hands when you start corking you will when you're done using natural corks. Natural or agglomerated corks are NOT recommended with the Gilda corker) .

For best results use Nomacorc brand synthetic corks with the Gilda hand corker.

Portuguese Twin Lever Hand Corker. Good quality twin lever hand corker. Does a good job of corking. #8 corks recommended. Synthetic or larger then #8's are not recommended. Non adjustable depth but our test indicates a good result at a fair price. Rubber coated bottle grips help hold the wine bottle steady too.

Plastic Plunger Hand Corker by Ferrari - Prior to use always soften and sterilize the corks by soaking them overnight in Campden solution. In emergence corks may be softened by stirring for a few minutes in hot water (not boiling) but soaking over night is preferable. Lift the plunger completely and put the cork into chamber through the opening. Stand the bottle on a solid base and hold the corker vertically on the neck of the bottle. Depress the plunger firmly until the cork is completely driven into the neck of the bottle. Use #7 corks for a firm fit and #8 corks for a tight fit. Will not insert #9 or synthetic corks.

ALTEC® WINE CORKS / No. 9 x 1 3/4: Developed for the wine industry to address corkiness, inconsistency, random oxidation, and leakage, these corks are made from Suberin, the purest part of cork, that is blended with a proprietary polymer which enhances the natural elasticity and sealing properties of the cork. The corks are symmetrical and totally natural in appearance. Bottles can be put on their side immediately after corking.

1-3/4 inch long corks provide up to 5 years of protection for aging. Our premium corks are agglomerated and non-chamfered. You will find minimal flaws with these high quality corks. Use with floor corkers only.

Tapered corks for oils, liquors, temporary closures and upright storage. Can be inserted by hand. #7 have a 13/16 inch top, 5/8 inch bottom. #8 have a 7/8 inch top, 11/16 inch bottom. #9 have a 15/16 inch top, 3/4 inch bottom. Fits most regular size wine bottles.

T-top, otherwise known as bar top, tasting corks in your choice of quality. GOOD are made from standard cork dust and resin and are good for occasional use or short term storage. BETTER are made from Altec brand cork, extremly nice cork quality and have a slightly smaller plastic T-top head. A recommended upgrade from good. BEST are made by Nomacorc Synthetic cork and are great for frequent use, liquors, vinegars, cooking oils and are reusable and odor resistant. All fit 375ml, 750ml, 1.5 liter and ice wine (bellisima) bottles. Will not fit 187ml Champagne bottles (use a tapered for these). T-top corks are designed to be inserted all the way in by twisting and pushing and removed by twisting and pulling. Standard size shrink caps work with these tops. Good for use while tasting or sampling a bottle of wine. Keeps open bottle from being spilled and plastic serrated top aids in easy removal. Can be inserted by hand. Not recommend for lay down storage of any liquid but upright storage is fine. Great when using wine bottles as promo's filled with red hots, M&M's or when sending wedding or party invitations in a bottle.
