Premium American Oak Wine Barrels - Assorted Sizes
Premium American Oak Wine Barrels - Assorted Sizes

PREMIUM American Oak Wine Barrels - Made for Quality Wine and Ale Supply by a small, family owned cooperage. Our Oak Wine Barrels are made of smooth, clear, premium, slow growing Minnesota White Oak. They're beautiful, inside and out. Built by hand and toasted to perfection. Every barrel is tested before shipping for that final step in quality assurance.
Available in 5, 10, 15, 30 and 59 gallon sizes.
Premium Wine Oak Barrels
  • Every oak barrel is made out of bent planks of oak (called staves). Only the highest quality of oak is used in the oak barrels we sell, and the staves used are always chosen by hand. The reason these are hand selected, is that the quality of the completed oak barrel lies heavily in these staves.
  • The toasting level is achieved based upon the heating time (around 30 minutes). The flavors of the wine partially depend on this. When heated longer than 30 minutes the toast level is heavier. When heated less than 30 minutes, it is lighter. There are multiple toasting levels, which can be adjusted according to what you need. These levels are heavy, medium, medium+, and light. The toasting process happens when a caramelization in the wood occurs (during the heating of the staves). Some examples of the aromas this brings, are: a touch of nut, vanilla, fresh bread, or buttered bread. When one tastes a wine, they will often find these amazing aromas. Our barrels are toasted to medium or medium +.

  • Oak Infusion Spirals - 2 pack - American Oak or French Oak
Oak Infusion Spirals - 2 pack - American or French Oak

Oak Infusion Spirals - 2 pack - American or French Oak
Several years ago, Russell Karasch of the Barrel Mill came up with a wonderful idea to create an oak alternative that delivers as good or better results than the American and French Oak barrels currently used to create premium wines. And he did just that. Not only did he create this perfectly toasted oak alternative, but he did so in a way that gives you unrivaled taste and aroma! No compromise. No kidding. The Original Infusion Spiral is still the best alternative to barrel oaking. The original Infusion Spiral is the best oak alternative. Made from the finest American and French Oak, and toasted to perfection. The unique spiral shape of 1 inch x 8 inch allows Infusion Spirals to achieve maximum extraction time in 6 weeks. Place directly into the wine. Oak flavor is fully extracted in 6 weeks. Withdraw sooner for a milder taste. Suggested Application: Our package of two oak spirals is enough to flavor a total of 6 gallons right in the carboy. Perfect for the home wine maker. Use one stick for every 3 gallons of wine. Place directly into the wine for full barrel oak flavor (to the strength of a new oak barrel). Full extraction is accomplished in 6 weeks. Withdraw sooner for a milder taste. Our Infusion Spirals are made of ultra premium American or French Oak. No sapwood, no bark, no knots. The unique process distributes the flavor evenly and can fully flavor a carboy or flavor tank in as little as six weeks. Deep-toasted to perfection with time saving grooves. Two to a package. Our spirals are cut from the best air-dried oak we can find. Then each piece is hand-picked and examined, insuring perfection and avoiding any imperfections such as knots, sapwood or bark. Flawless, beautiful Oak. With our spirals, what you see is what you get. They are toasted to perfection, and they're toasted 100% through the wood. We guarantee the accuracy of each stick, allowing you the assurance of uniformity in each of your batches. See for yourself. Snap one in half. Available in medium toast. Customize oak extraction levels by increasing or decreasing the number of sticks. Spirals can also be snapped in half for added flexibility.

    OAK CUBES - American - French - Hungarian - 5 oz Package
OAK CUBES - French, American or Hungarian - 3 oz Bag
    Quantity
StaVin is the industry leader in fire-toasted oak products. They import high quality French and Hungarian oaks and select premium American white oak from Missouri and Minnesota. All their oak is seasoned naturally for three years and fire-toasted by hand using proprietary methods. Recommended usage is 2 - 2.5 oz per 5 gallons, 5 oz per 10 gallons and 8 oz per 15 gallon demi john. Leave for a minimum of two months. Oak cubes by design have a longer contact time with wine than chips making them better for long term aging of wine and even beer. Longer contact time equals better extraction of flavors usually 3 to 6 months contact and leads to more complex oak flavors. Choose from American, French or Hungarian and three levels of toast. Medium, House (Medium Plus) and Dark.

    Quantity
For treatment of barrels to remove excess tannin. Required usage of 1 pound per every 5 gallons of hot water. 50 gallon barrel will require 10 lbs of Barolkleen. New barrels need to be treated in the following way:
    • Fill the barrel with a solution of Barolkleen mixed to a strength of 1 pound to every 5 gallons of hot water & leave for at least 48 hours.
    • Drain the barrel & flush it with clean water until water runs clear from the barrel.
    • Mix a solution of two ounces of sodium metabisulfite & one ounce of citric acid in two gallons of warm water and pour this solution into the barrel. Roll it around so it comes in contact with all interior surfaces.
    • Drain the sulphite solution, rinse the barrel well & immediately fill with wine.

    Citric Acid - Assorted sizes
    Quantity
This acid is popular among winemakers. It is the primary acid found in fruits such as lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange, pineapple and others. Citric acid is also used in smaller doses along with metabisulfite or campden tablets to enhance their sterilizing effectiveness. One teaspoon of citric will raise the titratable acid in a gallon of wine by .15 per cent tartaric.

    Sulphur Stick - 8 inch
    Sulphur Stick - 8 inch

Here is one way to use suplhur sticks in barrels. Hang a lighted sulfur stick in the barrel, placing the bung on very loosely. Pressure will build up with the burning of the sulfur stick and can blow out the bung. After about 5 minutes, remove the burnt sulfur stick and place bung in tightly. The burning of the sulfur stick uses up the oxygen in the barrel, killing bacteria and mold.
